The first time I met John Lynch was in the summer of 2004 at Mike Shanahan’s annual charity golf tournament.

Lynch has just come over to the Broncos from Tampa Bay as a free agent. He made quite a first impression, acing the second hole at the Omni Interlocken Golf Resort.

“Talk about good karma, that was it right there,” Lynch told me. “I’ve never done it and I’ve never even seen a hole in one before. It’s a rush.”

Lynch, who reminds me of Buzz Lightyear, struck me as so polite and so polished, I thought it must be an act. Only it wasn’t.

Over the years, I came to realize that Lynch is the real deal, a genuinely good, warm person who just happened to strike with lightning-bolt force on the football field.

Don’t just take my work for it. Just look at what he and his wife, Linda, have done in the Denver community through the John Lynch Foundation. They have raised more $300,000 in scholarship funds for deserving students.

On May 3, Lynch will host is annual Salute to the Stars luncheon at Invesco Field. Tim Tebow will be the guest speaker.

In addition, Lynch has agreed to be the participate in The Denver Post’s weekly “Fan Mail” feature.

Ask No. 47 about his burgeoning career as an NFL analyst for Fox TV. Ask him why he decided to make Denver is permanent home. Ask him for his take on the current Broncos.
Send your questions in an email to fanmail@denverpost.com. Questions will be accepted through Wednesday morning.
